This recent commission was to perform an exterior detail on a McLaren MP4 12C. The car was initially rinsed down to remove any loose surface dust and dirt, including washing out the wheel arches and road wheels. We then applied degreaser to the arches, tyres sills, diffusers etc. Once agitated this was rinsed off and repeated until we were satisfied.Next step was to address the road wheels , these were cleaned using Studio 17 soft wheel cleaning brushes, on the faces and rears until clean. The badges , shut lines, mesh intakes etc were cleaned with degreaser and a Studio 17 wet detail brush, this was then rinsed off before completing the 5 stage hand wash using pure wool mitts. Once completed the car was given its final rinse down prior to being dried off using a Venti Bi Motor hot air blow drier.we then performed a clay bar treatment to remove all surface contamination from the paintwork, glass, and road wheels. The car was then wiped down with IPA and the paintwork inspected for any defects. The next step was to apply 2 individual coats of wax to the paintwork, carbon fibre components and road wheels. The glass was cleaned down inside and outside. All the arches and tyres were dressed, along with the tailpipes being cleaned and dressed. An exterior detail was performed using a Studio 17 fine detail brush and a detailing spray. The car received a final coat of finishing glaze, along with a protective coating to the road wheels.
